Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,(1:1)
The Beneficent, the Merciful.(1:2)
Owner of the Day of Judgement.(1:3)
Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help. (1:4)
Show us the straight path,(1:5)
The path of those whom Thou hast favoured; (1:6)
Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray. (1:7)

RABBANA WA-J'ALNA MUSLIMAYNI LAKA WA MIN DHURRIYATINA 'UMMATAN MUSLIMATAN LAKA WA 'ARINA MANASIKANA WA TUB 'ALAYNA 'INNAKA 'ANTAT-TAWWABU-RAHEEM

2- “Our Lord! Make us (Muslims) submissive to Your Will, and raise from our offspring a (Muslim) community submissive to you, and teach us our rites of worship and relent towards us. Verily You alone are the most relenting, the Ever-Merciful.” Al Baqarah:128

This is also the du’a of Ibrahim (A.S.).

This du’a is the end result of Ibrahim’s (A.S.) fear and recognition of Allah (SWT) after completing actions. Whilst being obedient and subservient. One should make this du’a for obedience and subservience to Allah (SWT) alone. The reason is that when the recognition of Allah (SWT) is increased in a person his realisation is also increased.

Ibrahim (A.S.) also made du’a for his offspring. The close servants of Allah (SWT) are more concerned about the spiritual welfare of their offspring especially their welfare in the Aakhirah. Another reason for praying for the off-spring is that they may, by their good deeds set a good example to future generations and the nation of islam will benefit as a whole.
